Welcome to Chez l'Alsacien
Discover our cosy 4-star accommodation in Barr, located in the heart of Alsace’s wine capital, between Obernai and Sélestat. The 3-room flat “Chez l’Alsacien” (67 m²) can accommodate up to 5 people (plus a baby) and has been completely renovated, preserving the original materials. There are two bedrooms, a fitted kitchen, a cosy living area, a balcony and a bathroom with walk-in shower. The house is ideally located for exploring the Central Alsace region, on the Alsace Wine Route and at the foot of Mont Saint Odile, between the Vosges and the Black Forest, between vineyards and half-timbered houses.
On a cobbled street in the historic centre of Barr, step through the porch and climb to the second floor of a half-timbered Alsatian building for an unforgettable experience.
Barr is a typically Alsatian town full of character where life is good, with its charming boutiques, gourmet restaurants, craftsmen and winegrowers. It’s the ideal starting point for a host of escapades, both in town and in the countryside.

Marie and Thomas have taken great care to furnish and decorate the Chez l’Alsacien accomodation, where everything is designed to make you feel at home.
Nothing has been left to chance to offer you the best comfort in the most authentic surroundings, for a gentle, peaceful stay in the Alsatian style.
A cosy living room
Once you’ve pushed open the beautiful wooden door, you’ll immediately be drawn into the atmosphere by the scent and creaks of the old wood on the fully restored period fir floor and the polished antique furniture. You’ll discover a cosy living room where all the half-timbering has been preserved, with furniture and decor lovingly sourced by Marie and Thomas. There are two distinct areas: a dining area where you can enjoy a meal together in the Alsatian ‘Stammtisch’ style, and a ‘relaxing’ living room where you’ll find a top-of-the-range connected TV with Netflix, a DVD player, a radio and plenty of board games, books, magazines and DVDs to enjoy with family and friends.
A fully equipped kitchen
The Chez l’Alsacien holiday home has a fully equipped kitchen with all crockery and cutlery, as well as a large number of utensils and household appliances.
The pleasure of cooking takes on its full meaning here in this gastronomic region par excellence.

Comfortable rooms
Because a suitcase is always too small, don’t bother with the laundry!
All beds are made up on arrival.
The bedding and linen have been carefully selected. Once again, Thomas and Marie have focused on quality and local produce, opting for the best manufacturers in Alsace and the Vosges.For the bedding, we chose top-of-the-range pocketed micro-sprung mattresses (winter side/summer side in Oeko-Tex®-certified soya, 5 comfort zones) from DIROY in Haut-Rhin, the only manufacturer in Alsace for 75 years.
The beds are fitted with linen from LINVOSGES and GARNIER-THIEBAUT, leading manufacturers combining expertise and quality of fine linen located in the Vosges.
Finally, the bedspreads and household linen have been made to measure from traditional Alsatian fabrics and patterns in cotton and linen, Kelsch, hand-woven by the KELSCH D’ALSACE factory in SEEBACH (Bas-Rhin).
Each bed has individual duvets and two pillows for maximum comfort.
Each bedroom has storage cupboards and is equipped with USB sockets.
On request:
If you wish, we can separate the double bed in bedroom 2 into two single beds measuring 80 x 200 cm.
We can also provide a cot for your baby.
An intimate setting
The bathroom has a large walk-in shower and an old oak sideboard that has been converted into a double washbasin unit.
Marie and Thomas have also thought of everything for your comfort with :

Here too, all the products are eco-friendly and/or local, and come in refillable containers.
The little extra: an authentic balcony
You can get some fresh air and enjoy a few rays of sunshine on the 8m² covered, long balcony with a small bistro table and chairs. Ideal for a romantic breakfast or coffee, or just to enjoy a moment of relaxation. And there’s even a lovely bar with stools where you can enjoy an aperitif outside.
You can also use part of the balcony to store your bicycles, pushchairs and/or bulky items.

Arrival:
Marie and Thomas will be happy to welcome you on arrival between 4pm and 7pm. To help us organise your arrival, please let us know your approximate time slot in advance. A later arrival is possible if you contact them in advance on 06.63.06.05.63 or 06.80.32.74.56.
Departure: There’s no hurry for departure! You can leave as late as 11.00 am.
Getting to "Chez l'Alsacien"
Access map
Barr is 8 km from Obernai, 20 km from Sélestat, 30 km from Haut Koenigsbourg castle, 35 km from Strasbourg cathedral and 25 km from the German border at Gerstheim or via the Rhinau-Kappel ferry.
The gîte is located at 32 rue du Collège, 300 metres from the town hall and tourist office.
At the crossroads of the Alsace Wine Route, the Romanesque Route and the Sauerkraut Route, you can get there by car via exit 13 of the A35, by train from Barr station, by bike on the Alsace cycle routes and on foot via the GR5
How do I get to Barr?
Coming by train
Barr station is 1 km away, less than 15 minutes on foot.
It is served by the TER Grand Est train, which runs direct to and from Strasbourg, Obernai, Sélestat and Colmar.

Strasbourg – Entzheim airport is 24 kilometres from the gîte by car, and 31 minutes by TER train.
Coming by car
Take exit 13 off the A35 motorway, towards Barr, and follow the Centre-Ville sign. The gîte is 300 metres from the town hall.

Where can I park?
The nearest car park is the PARKING DU COLLÈGE (or STAHL) at 21 rue du Collège, just opposite the building entrance. Just cross the road and you’ll be there.
Parking is free but regulated and limited to 2 hours on weekdays, from 9 to 12 am and from 2 to 7 pm. So don’t forget to put a disc on your windscreen and update it regularly. If necessary a blue disc is available in the apartment.
A few metres further on, at 15 rue du Collège, the PARKING DEGERMANN (or PARKING DU COLLÈGE 2) is outside the restricted zone, so parking is unlimited and totally free of charge.
Good to know
– Pets are not allowed throughout the gîte.
– The entire building and flat are non-smoking.
– The holiday home is on the second floor without a lift and is therefore unfortunately not suitable for people with reduced mobility.
